Garden Market Update

Ok folks, let’s get down to some business on this Garden Market we’ve got coming up.

To recap, the Market will be April 20, 21, 22nd.  The event will be held at the Museum of Arts and Sciences (note: admission to the Garden Market is free, but should you wish to also visit the museum you’ll need to purchase admission tickets as per normal).  We’re also hosting a Lunch and Learn with plantman Jenks Farmer on Thursday the 19th, and then later that night we will be throwing a kickin’ Rhythm and Bloom party with BBQ by Two’s Company and music by The Bo Henry Band.  Ok, that much we knew, right?  Well those of you who attended our Garden Market last year will remember that the sale was divided into thematic shops of all types of inspiration.  Since we’re not ones to let a fun idea sit dusty, this year there will be new themes for all kinds of gardeners.  The first shop we are thinking of as DIY in 1, 2, 3!  Now we know that a lot of you out there have some serious experience under your belts and some fairly green thumbs on your hands, and don’t worry: we’ve got some things planned for you, yes we do (and the kiddos, too).  But for every gardener with a green thumb there are probably five want-to-be gardeners who either feel too intimidated to get started or, worse, feel too badly about the last few times they bought a plant, put it in the ground, and watched it die.  You can probably think of someone you know just like this, the old “I’ve got a black thumb” or “I could kill a cactus” people.  Well this little shop is for them.  It will be chock full of plants that are tough as nails, plants that will take a licking and keep on ticking, plants that will just love that one spot where five plants before it just couldn’t take it.  We’ve chosen these plants because they are easy, but never fear, we’ve also chosen them because they are gorgeous – colorful, versatile, and long lasting (psssst: the images on this page are a sneak preview!).  And there won’t just be plants at this shop, there will also be some fabulous videos that talk you through taking these plants home and caring for them so folks can head home 100% confident that these posies will last.

One of Carmen’s greatest motivations for Nectar and Company was the idea that she could get people gardening like their grandparents, so this new gardeners’ shop is near and dear to the Nectar mission.  If you need a little Gardening 101 or if someone you know does, this is the place for you.

This year’s Garden Market will be filled with how-to videos and demonstrations, so stay tuned here as we announce our other upcoming shops, more details about the Lunch & Learn, and a contest to win a gift certificate for the Garden Market!
